Q. What is filler?

Dermal Fillers are soft, injectable substances that most often come in the form of liquids or gels and are made of hyaluronic acid (HA). Injected into the dermis or subcutaneous layer of the skin, Dermal Fillers improve the visible signs of aging by replacing lost volume.

Q. What is botox?

Botulinum Toxin is a neurotoxin made by the bacteria Clostridum Botulinum, an anaerobic bacteria found in soil. Botulinum Toxin is purified for clinical use and cosmetic use. Botulinum Toxin is divided into 7 serotypes by their differences in potency and duration of action. Botulinum Toxin Type A is the most potent of the serotypes and therefore is used for clinical and Cosmetic uses.

Once injected in the muscle, the mechanism of action of BOTOX® (Toxins) causes temporary muscle paralysis by inhibiting the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from motor nerve terminals.

Q. do fillers hurt?

Yes, but everyone experiences pain differently. Filler treatment is quick and you will be looked after well, we inject you at your own pace.

Topical lidocaine is applied prior to your treatment and you are not injected for 20 minutes until the effect of this medication is at maximum potency.

Certain treatments use a cannula which is less painful than needle use.

Q. Will there be swelling?

Yes, you can experience swelling after any injectable treatment. You may also experience redness and bruising in the injected area. Swelling effects should not last longer than 48-72 hours with bruising taking up to 14 days to fully resolve.

Q. Can I wear makeup after treatment?

We advise no make-up for three hours post any injectable treatment.

Q. How long does it last?

Every individual is different, but generally speaking fillers last 6-18 months depending on the filler density and area of treatment, lifestyle factors and metabolism of the individual having the treatment.

Skin boosters’, (like fillers), longevity is determined by the density of the product, area of treatment, lifestyle factors and metabolism. Treatment can last 4-9 months.

Anti-wrinkle treatments are a prescription medication and have an onset of 1-2 weeks with peak results at week 4. Results last approximately 12 weeks with this being individual dependent. Age, lifestyle factors, metabolism and previous usage all affect longevity of toxin treatments.

Q. WHat is your aftercare like?

We pride ourselves on the level of exceptional aftercare you receive at Francis Clinic. There is no deadline to how long we ‘look after you’ post a treatment with us. Immediately post treatment we offer verbal and written aftercare (sent via email). We provide an aftercare pack to support your healing process. We have a phone number and WhatsApp that is contactable 7 days a week and an aftercare email that is manned by a medical practitioner 24/7. Anytime you have a question, concern or worry about your treatment please do contact us.

Q. CAN I REMOVE FILLER?

Dermal filler can be dissolved by the acid hyaluronidase. This is administered via small injections to break the product down.

This is an expert level skill and clients must be patch tested for allergies prior to treatment. If you wish to book a dissolving treatment.

Please call us on 0333 577 0887.

Dissolving, via hyaluronidase, is used in the emergency treatment of Vascular Occlusions. This is a very rare complication after filler treatment and is thoroughly explained during consultation.

Q. SHOULD I GET 0.5, 0.7 or 1.0MLS FOR MY LIPS?

Don’t worry about the volume of the product. Different amounts are required to produce different results and this will be dependent on the size of the lip, the age of the client and the ‘look’ desired. There is a detailed consultation included for every appointment so whichever volume you book, this will be discussed and the appropriate option chosen in consultation with the practitioner and with you.

We do include a lengthy consultation as part of every treatment we offer, regardless if earlier consultations are booked.
