FAQ

Q. What is filler?

Dermal Fillers are soft, injectable substances that most often come in the form of liquids or gels. Injected into the dermis or subcutaneous layer of the skin, Dermal Fillers improve the visible signs of ageing by replacing lost fat and filling out the space below wrinkles, fine lines, and cheek hollows. Dermal fillers can also be used to achieve a plumper lip or repair a variety of other facial imperfections.

Q. What is botox?

Botulinum Toxin is an neurotoxin made by the bacteria Clostridum Botulinum, an anaerobic bacteria found in soil. Botulinum Toxin is purified for clinical use and cosmetic use. Botulinum Toxin is divided into 7 serotypes by their differences in potency and duration of action. Botulinum Toxin Type A is the most potent of the serotypes and therefore is used for clinical and Cosmetic uses.

Once injected in the muscle, the mechanism of action of BOTOX® is to cause temporary muscle paralysis through inhibition the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from motor nerve terminals.

Q. do fillers hurt?

Yes... everyone experiences pain differently but all my clients return again.

For lip fillers, a numbing cream (4% lidocaine) will be used for 10 minutes prior to the procedure to help minimise any initial discomfort. The injection itself also contains an anaesthetic within the product to ease pain of injection.

For tear troughs, cheeks, and jawline we use cannulas. Cannulas are less painful, risky and invasive.

Q. Will there be swelling?

Yes... You will experience swelling, and may experience redness and bruising in the injected area. These effects should not last longer than 1 week, in some cases 14 days depending on how much treatment and how much product you used.

Q. Can I wear makeup after treatment?

Yes, immediately for treatments such as cheeks. Leave a few hours for all other treatments. Please do not rub your face when applying the makeup.

Q. How long does it last?

Every individual is different, generally speaking fillers last 6-18 months depending on where the filler is and how much you have.

Q. Can I remove it?

In most cases filler can be dissolved and reversed by hyaluronidase. This is administered via small injections to break the product down. This is an expert level skill and is not offered at all clinics. If you wish to book a dissolving treatment, use our booking system.

Q. Should I get 0.5, 1 or 2 mls for my lips?

This is down to personal preference and lip size/amount of previous filler. However, if this is your first treatment ;

  • 0.5 ml will give a VERY subtle look once swelling goes down
  • 1 ml may look large immediately after. Once this swelling goes down they will settle to be visibly more plumped and volumised
  • 1.5ml-2ml for a full appearance

Q. Can your fillers make me look like Kylie Jenner?

Yes... within reason. At Francis Clinic we aim to make people look the best versions of themselves. Please remember we can only enhance your natural features. It is not possible to completely change them. Many celebrities you may admire have used far more than 1 ml of product all over their face... Your unique beauty is the best beauty.

Q: How can I book a consultation?

Every single treatment automatically has a consultation as part of that booking, even if it is not your first visit to our clinic. We do also offer free consultations for people who have not booked a treatment, but would like to see a practitioner and talk in person about their needs.

Q: I don’t know what treatment to book can you help me?

Feel free to send in a photo via our Facebook or Instagram page. We can advise by looking at your photos and even book in a virtual consultation with our practitioner if you are in need of a more specialist treatment. A virtual consultation will be validated during the consultation you have when you come for your treatment. If you are not sure how much product you may need; that can be discussed when you arrive for treatment.

Q: Can you tell me what products you use?

At Francis Clinic we use Revolax, IntralineJuverderm and Botox® for our treatments. The products are chosen for their quality, longevity and the medical research supports the use of these products.

Q: How long is the recovery time for your treatments?

It’s quite common to experience swelling and bruising for up to 14 days following treatment. However you should not experience extreme pain or itching.

Q: I need an appointment asap. Can you let me know if you get a cancellation?

All of the cancellations will be posted on our Instagram Stories.

Q: I can't find a booking for the date I need, can you help me?

If you’re not able to find a booking on the system it means we are fully booked or closed on this date. Please search for another date to make your booking.

Q: I need to cancel my booking, please can I have my deposit refunded?

Our booking system does not take a deposit unless you cancel with less than 7 days notice; or do not turn up. In this instance it takes £30 fee from the card you used to make your appointment. This is non transferable or refundable.

Q: I’m not able to attend my booking please can I reschedule?

If you wish to change the date of your booking we require a minimum of 7 days notice. If you wish to change the date within 7 days of your booking you will be charged £30. To make a change to your booking please log into the booking system.

Q: How old do you have to be for treatments with parental permission?

All clients must be 18 at the time of the treatment. ID maybe asked for.

Q: Where can I find your phone number?

Unfortunately due to location restrictions it’s not possible to have a phone line.

Q: Do you offer finance?

Unfortunately this is not something we offer at our clinic at this moment

Q: Can I bring my children?
